I recently moved back to my hometown of Boyle Heights (East of Downtown Los Angeles), after holding down a staff position at the Houston Chronicle for 10 years. I covered stories such as the Texas National Guard 72nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployment to Iraq, the U.S. Mexico Border, Houston daily life and news since 2005.

Before my tenure at the Houston Chronicle, I had a three-year stint as a staff photographer at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. I also completed a one-year rotating internship with Knight-Ridder Tribune where I worked at The Kansas City Star, The Belleville New-Democrat, and the Contra Costa Times in the Bay Area. I earned a B.A. in Communications at California State University of Fullerton.

It’s exciting to return home, and photograph L.A. with a new set of eyes.
